View Full Version : Need help - VHS to DVD

I have a VHS / vedio cassette of which the contents are to be copied to a DVD.

I have:
TV
VCR
Laptop with DVD writer

What software I need and how I do it? Thanks in advance.

i guess u'll need tv tuner type of card to convert your VHS to avi or other type of file. and then there are some softwares available to convert them to DVD...i'll search and post some softwares.

That was helpful, except one thing, I have SONIC instead of Movie Factory. But I think, SONIC would be enough.

Now, only one problem remains. How I connect VCR to Laptop?

You need:
1. a firewire, and
2. a firewire connection in both your VCR and laptop.

Then you can play your tape in VCR and through firewire, the data will be transferred from VCR to laptop and it will be captured by Sonic application. You can then use this data (avi file) to burn VCD or DVD.

Thanks GFB, I will check this firewire. I haven't heard this before.

Take a wire and put it on fire ... put one end of the burning wire in your laptop and the other end in VCR
