This young man joined as a shop assistant and it was his first day and his first customer walked in and asked for Lux soap. He found they were out of stock and the cutomer walked away. His boss observed this and advised him that he should have offered the customer Rexona or Dove or Nima as an alternative. The assistant grasped this.

The next customer wanted some toilet paper. Seeing that are out of this too, he offered the customer sand paper.

However this chap became a sharp businessman on his own and was so good at guessing what the customer wanted before he/she walked in to the shop.

Once a lady was walking in and puts a bundle of toilet paper on the counter and says - this is what you wanted madam.

No she said. I wanted some sanitary towels.

He hits himself on his head and says to himself - Missed it by a few inches

i recall listening this in mid 90s on fm radio in delhi...

1st RJ: aaaauuuuummmhhhhhh...(seductively)
2nd RJ: aaaarrrggghhhh... (painfully)

& the question to listeners is "whats the difference between 1st aah & 2nd aah?"

The answer: "one inch."

It took me a while to figure out then
