NOTE: There are no spoilers in this post. Since this is supposed to be a murder mystery movie, I won't give any hint about the plot/murderer. I'm giving general details about the movie. So you can read without fearing that the suspense will be revealed here.
I hate movies that move at snail's pace. Specially, in a murder mystery/thriller kind of movie, I expect speed, which is lacking here. You should not make a murder mystery at the tempo of an art house film. This movie gets continually stuck in details that have no relevance to the plot.
Early in the film we are introduced to 4 characters in 4 different corners of the world, who are all at the brink of destruction. An invitation from a bona fide billionaire, Karan Malhotra (Anupam Kher) who offers to help each of them comes as a new lease of life. But for this, they must come to his private island in Samos, Greece. However, once they arrive at the island, the motive for having all of them on the island is revealed. A murder takes place without any build up or suspense - isn't anticipation the key to keeping the audience hooked? Before you know it - it's interval. And thanks to the slow, heavy style it feels like it's taken an eternity and nothing much has happened.
There are gaping holes in accuracy. Don't want to discuss much as don't want to give too much details of the plot, but can't help myself in pointing out one thing. A key character tries to hang herself from a ceiling fan. Bur she's in London and I can't remember the last time I saw a fan in any London flat, house or building. Even if there is a ceiling fan, it (the ceilings, which is normally plasterboard in UK houses) is not strong enough to hold a person's body weight.
Anyway, the bad part about this movie is that the director fails to engage audiences and they are not interested in knowing why the murder took place, how it happened and who done it. There is no anticipation or any suspense and it is very easy to guess who did the murder.
Every actor's acting is robotic. None of them impressed me.
Verdict: Very slow and amateurish movie. Don't watch it thinking that it will be a good murder mystery (crime thriller).
