A must watch movie for all those who like hard hitting and/or reality based movies. Very well made.
As you must be aware, this film is based on the infamous Jessica Lall murder case that happened in New Delhi in 1999. It is not a documentary movie and can easily pass as a commercial movie. The events are obviously dramatised (in the beginning of the movie there is a disclaimer in this regard). Credit goes to the writer/director who kept a fine balance between showing the actual events and dramatising it to keep viewer’s interests in the movie.
After watching this movie, I would like to say ‘Majaa aa gaya” but won’t say that as I don’t want to hurt the feelings of Jessica’s family for whom it must have been a nightmarish experience. I respect their feelings and sympathise with the agonies that they went through. I would only comment about the presentation of the movie (keeping aside the contents).
After a long time I’ve seen a movie that kept me glued to the screen from beginning till the end. Very crisp and fast paced movie. Even if you know all the details of this case, you would still watch this movie in one go. There is not even a single situation where you would like to get up to go to the loo or for a snack/drink break. Everyone acted brilliantly except Rani. She also acted well but I think her bindaas character was a bit overdone. Every sentence of her had a cuss word and that got on my nerves after sometime.
Verdict: Must watch.
