Gone are the days when you went to a DVD shop/Video parlour, you had to look around to see that no uncles or aunties were present before asking shopkeeper in whispered coded voice, “Koi ‘achchi waali’ English movie dena.” Getting porn movies nowadays is so easy. All you have to do now is to go to the counter (even if there is a salesgirl there) and boldly say, “Hisss ki DVD dena.”
Storyline
There isn’t much of a story here. An old American called George States (Jeff Douchette) has brain cancer and the only way to avoid death is to get Naagmani which has got amazing/mystic healing powers. He comes to India and hires local people to catch an ichchadari nagin who will have that nagmani. The locals advise him that the best time is to catch the nagin is when she is mating with her naag as she is most vulnerable then. So they go the jungle, catch the naag, when he is mating with nagin, and come back to the basement of a ruined house and wait for nagin so that they can trap her when she comes to rescue her beloved naag. Now you’ll ask me why didn’t they capture nagin in the first place (instead of naag) , i.e., when both of them were wrapped around each other in the jungle, why catch naag and not nagin? Bhai mere, how would the story progress further if they had done that? The story would have ended then and there itself. Anyway, when they take away naag, the nagin takes human shape (Mallika Sherawat) and starts looking for her naag. Budhdha American waits in the basement hoping for her to somehow find that place nearer the climax/end of the movie. Nagin in the meantime passes her time by killing all those guys who helped the firang or killing those tharkis who want to take ‘advantage’ of her. Vikram [Irrfan Khan] is a police inspector who is entrusted with the responsibility of solving these murders and tracking down the mysterious killer. Divya Dutta is Vikram’s wife (in case you want to know) who wanders around aimlessly in whole movie just like Irrfan Khan wondering what are they doing in such a movie.
Why you should watch
It is a soft porn movie available off the shelf. So much nudity has never before shown in a Hindi movie. The heroine drops her clothes every time the director says Lights, Camera, Action! Mallika (and her body double) have paraded around butt naked throughout this movie. But don’t get too excited. Frontal nudity is not shown. If you pause and zoom the DVD (which I’m sure you’ll do), you’ll notice that whenever there is a shot of the front side, skin coloured latex dress is worn. However, this dress code does not apply while shooting scenes of the backside and from head to heels, every part is fully and clearly exposed.
Special effects are also very good, as compared to the standard of Bollywood movies. In the past nagin movies, there would be a flash of light and the nagin would transform into human and vice versa. But in this movie, step by step transformation has been shown and it looks very good.
Why you should not watch
This movie is badly scripted, poorly enacted, sloppily edited and carelessly directed. If you are a female, or your testosterone count is too low, there is nothing in it for you to see.
Verdict
Males can watch it once.
