Verdict: DO NOT WATCH!
(writing verdict first so that you don’t even waste your time reading the review)
This film just keeps on going on and on about what, I don’t know. There is no sense of direction and everything is so predictable; things that you have seen umpteen times before. There isn't even a single scene worth mentioning. Not funny, not senti, not romantic, good for nothing movie.
Abhay (Imran Khan) and Aaliya (Deepika Padukone) have known each other since they were kids. Their friendship turned into love when they were teenagers.
Aaliya is a very ambitious girl who wants to rebel against every set rule. She smokes cigars, drinks alcohol, wants to lose her virginity at the age of 20 and so on. She has got a burning desire to become an actress and she is unmindful of what or who comes in her way. Abhay is just the opposite. He is an easy going guy who goes with the flow.
Aaliya decides to go to Australia to study (why?) and Abhay has to deal with the prospect of a long-distance relationship, secretly fearing that he will lose Aaliya forever. So he also goes to Australia after her. Aaliya decides to give their relationship a break, so that she can pursue her dreams (what dreams and how come Abhay was an obstacle in that?).
The lovers (in fact Aaliya) break up for a flimsy reason (there's no rationale actually), then become friends, then go separate ways, then become friends again, then argue animatedly and so on. It rapidly gets to the point when you want to tell them to hurry it up and get it done and over with already so that you can go home.
The film is talk-heavy, extremely long-winded and the chatter is pointless, senseless and ridiculous. The dialogues are so pakau that you wonder you could have written it better. If you don’t believe me, then let me give you a sample:
Abhay’s aunt (Lillete Dubey) is 3 time divorcee and she is giving advice (lol) to Abhay when he is confused whether to marry or not.
Aunt: You see this balcony? If I jump off, what will happen?
Abhay: You will break your bones, 3-4 fractures etc.
Aunt: But I will still jump off from this balcony. Because I am not afraid of the pain. You (Abhay) want to achieve everything and all of it without pain. How is it possible?
Abhay thinks that his aunt is right and he should marry.
I was scratching my sleepy head trying to understand the comparison of the pain that you’ll have after jumping off the balcony with the breaking, making amends with your girlfriend and marrying her. Didn’t spent much time in thinking about the logic and went back to sleep.
Conclusion: A boring fare that gets unbearable after a point! Reminded me of Aisha (Abhay Deol, Sonam Kapoor), which was as Pakau as this movie. Those who download movies, this is not even worth downloading.
