Starring Natalie Portman, Hugo Weaving and John Hurt.
Directed by James McTeigue ( Assistant to Wachowski
brothers of Matrix Trilogy fame) and Produced by
Wachowski Brothers.
This is one dark, futuristic political movie. The plot is set in 2020 or so, when America is on decline, and UK is the new power centre. Set in london, the Uk is governed by a dictator who believes in ruling by terror.
The old bailey ( The supreme court of London) is blown up by the masked man called V. He is the main protagonist in the movie. He is the rebel who wants to bring down this dictatorship. He is helped in his cause by the pretty Natalie Portman.
For me, the movie was characterized by excellent script and dialogues written by Wachowski brothers themselves.
They struck a deep chord with in. A quotable line which touched me was
" It is not the people who should be afraid of the government, but the government should be afraid of the people".
"Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. There is an idea, and ideas are bulletproof. "
Their are many other Orwellian interludes which makes
you think about the present state of governance.
The movie has got some slick action and a good climax. But most importantly its stirres up the mind. Go
watch it, but not with your girl, because you will be
glued to screen at all times.:001_cool:
