Saaqi ki har nigaah pe balkha ke pii gaya
Leharo'n se khelta hua lehra ke pii gaya

Bekaifeeyo'n ke kaif se ghabra ke pii gaya
Taubaa ko tod-taad ke thar'ra ke pii gaya

[bekaifee = unintoxicating (unpleasant); kaif = intoxication]

Zaahid ye meri shokhi-e-rindaana dekhna
Rehamat ko baato'n baato'n me'n behla ke pii gaya

[zaahid = wise man; shokhi-erindaana = mischief/restlessness of a drunk person; rehamat = benevolence]

Sarmasti-e-azal mujhe jab yaad aa gai
Duniya-e-aitbaar ko thukra ke pii gaya

[azal = time immemorial ]

Aazurdgi-e-khaatir-e-saaqi ko dekh kar aye rehamat-e-tamaam meri har khataa mua'af
Mai intaha-e-shauq me'n ghabra ke pii gaya

[Aazurdgi-e-khaatir-e-saaqi = For the love of the Saaqi; Khataa = mistake; mu'aaf=pardon; intaha-e-shauq = limits of desire]

Piita begair izan ye kab thi meri majaal
Dar-parda chashm-e-yaar ki shah paa ke pii gaya

[izan = permission/order; majaal = dare; dar-pardaa = hidden; chashm-e-yaar = beloved's eyes; shah = support]

Uss jaan-e-maikada ki qasam baaraha "Jigar"
Kul aalam-e-bisaat pe mai chhaa ke pii gaya

[jaan-e-maikadaa = life of the bar refering to saaqi; baarahaa = everytime; kul = whole; aalam-e-bisaat = complete universe]
