We regret to inform you that Vikram Pottdar, a PM with EMEA passed away on Tuesday night. He is being survived by his wife and a 2 year old daughter.
Vikram was abducted when he hitched a ride from Wakad Chowk for Mumbai.
This is the second abduction and extortion incident that has happened in a very short time frame with our employees at Wakad Chowk. (We had sent out a mail earlier to highlight the first incident)
The modus operandi in both the incidents was the same.
A car stops at the WAKAD CHOWK, offers you a lift to Mumbai, takes you to the through the Old Pune Bombay Highway, offers you coffee/juice which is drugged. The drug forces you to share you PIN numbers and other confidential personal information. The abductors then use this to withdraw money on your ATM cards or make indiscriminate use of your credit cards.
The abductors then throw you off the car hoping somebody will find you.
In the first incident, the employee was lucky to have survived. However, Vikram unfortunately did not survive the drug overdose.
We sincerely request all of you to be EXTREMELY CAREFUL especially while traveling to Mumbai. PLEASE DO NOT HITCH RIDES. Please ensure that you travel in groups especially while going outstation to places like Mumbai.
We recommend the following alternatives: while traveling to Mumbai:-
The Mumbai Pune transport committee has buses which leave on Friday evening or holidays from outside our campus. Use the regular VOLVO (Neeta, Metro Link), Asiads or trains. Infosys has a facility to enable you to do personal bookings for these modes of transport.
Car pool if possible with other Infoscions
